Everything About Agatha Araya’s former partner: Stuart Townsend
Agatha Araya’s ex-husband Stuart Townsend was born in Howth, County Dublin, the son of Irish model Lorna Hogan and English professional golfer Peter Townsend. Dylan, his younger brother, is also an actor. Stuart began his acting training at the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin. In 1993, he had his theatrical debut off-Broadway in Colin Teevan’s “Tear Up The Black Sail.”
He made his professional theater debut the following year in John Crowley’s True Lines, which had its Kilkenny premiere before traveling to the Dublin Theatre Festival and the Bush Theatre in London. Stuart’s first film appearances were in Irish short films such as Godsuit and Summertime before gaining a role in Trojan Eddie, a 1996 Anglo-Irish co-production.
Peter Townsend, Townsend’s father, was a golfer who competed in the 1969 and 1971 Ryder Cups. From his father’s first marriage to Lorna Townsend, he has a brother, Dylan Townsend, and a sister, Chloe Townsend, who died in 1994 of a cerebral hemorrhage. From his father’s second marriage to Swedish-born Sofia, Townsend has two half-siblings, Hugo and Ella. He dated Charlize Theron after meeting her on the filming of Trapped in 2002. The pair shared residences in Los Angeles and Ireland.
They stated that they felt themselves married despite lacking a formal marriage, with Townsend noting, “We didn’t have a ceremony.” I don’t need a certificate, the state, or the church to prove anything. So, there’s no big official wedding narrative, but we’re married… I consider her my wife, and she considers me her husband.” They parted when Theron and Townsend returned from a ten-day vacation in Mexico in January 2010.
In May 2015, Townsend’s brother said that Stuart had relocated to Costa Rica, where he had purchased land and was living with a Costa Rican lady expecting their second child. Townsend was arrested in 2019 while residing in Santa Monica with his wife and two children, Desmond and Ezra, after a domestic incident.
Agatha’s marriage troubles
After stepping away from the spotlight to focus on his family, Stuart Townsend and Araya refocused the spotlight on their love. This time, not so much wishful thinking. A case of domestic troubles prompted the neighbors to call the cops.
Neighbors said screams might have been heard from their Santa Monica house. They phoned the cops to make sure everything was okay, and upon arrival, he was detained for a violent altercation with his wife, Agatha Araya. He was charged with two misdemeanor counts of false imprisonment and one offense of domestic violence.
Stuart was freed from police custody after posting a $50,000 bail. The arrest was a yellow card for The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. His wife, Agatha Araya, abandoned the investigation, and since then, troubles have not surfaced again, and no negative news about the two has surfaced. It’s conceivable that they settled their disputes. However, news came of their divorce in 2018.
