Deniz was born in Ankara and raised in Aydın, but his family is originally from Ağrı. He is the nephew of the well-known Sakiro, a traditional Kurdish singer. In addition to attending neighborhood amateur theater groups, he began performing in plays he authored while still in high school. In 1985, he made his orchestral debut at Aydın.
