Majorie Gortner’s former husband, Daniel Patrick Harrington Jr., was an American theatre and television actor who won Emmy Awards. He is remembered for playing building superintendent Dwayne Schneider in the comedy One Day at a Time (1975–1984). Daniel Patrick Harrington Jr. died on January 6, 2016. Pat Harrington Sr., his father, was also an actor. 

Pat Harrington attended Oakdale, New York’s La Salle Military Academy, a catholic military school. Afterwards, he earned a master’s degree in political philosophy from Fordham University after earning a bachelor of arts in 1950. Harrington served as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, rising to first lieutenant.

After finishing his military duty and education, he decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and seek an entertainment career. He accepted a position at New York City’s NBC. He subsequently started doing theatre acting and toured North America with several productions before appearing on Broadway.

Tennis player Mike Harrington was one of the four children Harrington and Marjorie Ann Gortner had together before divorcing in 1985. In 2001, he wed Sally Cleaver, a senior insurance executive.

In November 2015, Pat Harrington, who had Alzheimer’s, injured himself. Majorie Gortner’s former husband, Pat Harrington, spent about three weeks in a hospital after suffering a brain haemorrhage. His children reported the passing away of Pat Harrington at the age of 86 on January 6, 2016. passed away on his co-star Bonnie Franklin’s birthday, even though she had already passed away in 2013.
