Due to the father’s work, the family moved to England in 1962, where little Tom spoke at school with a North American accent. Alongside Martin Vaughan, he acted in Phar Lap in 1983 as a teenage Tom Woodcock, while he had a romantic involvement with Nicole Kidman. Windrider was filmed in 1986.
They spent almost two years together. Having been a huge Frank Sinatra admirer since he was around seven years old and pleading with his mother to play “the man in the hat,” he learned that Sinatra’s daughter Tina was producing a miniseries on her father in America. He was chosen to sing the young Sinatra’s voice instead of trying out for the lead part.
