Tom Fauntleroy: Facts About Bern Nadette Stanis' First Husband

Who is Tom Fauntleroy?

Tom Fauntleroy is a singer and songwriter with a talent for expressing the spirit of soul in his songs. He was born in Los Angeles, California, on October 11, 1984. Tom was introduced to several musical genres at a young age because he grew up in a musically-minded household. Tom Fauntleroy is also famous for being the ex-husband of renowned actress and author Bern Nadette Stanis. The couple were married in 1974, with Bern Nadette being his first wife and he being her first husband. However, the lit spark quenched and ended up in a divorce after just six years.

Regarding his family, Thomas Fauntleroy’s mother was a choir director, while his father was a working musician. Tom’s love of music was sparked by this early encounter, inspiring him to become a vocalist himself.

Tom Fauntleroy is a singer and songwriter

As mentioned, Thomas Fauntleroy is a singer and songwriter recognized for being a member of the American soul group from Washington, DC. Al & the Vikings was founded in 1966 by some Howard University students in Washington, D.C., consisting of Thomas Fauntleroy, Marvin Brown, Robert Hayes, George Roland, and singer/songwriter Al Johnson.

The Unique Five and then the Unifics were the group’s new names throughout its first year. The Unifics, well-known for their slick harmonies and stylish appearances (including their signature white gloves, black light effects, and strobe light thrills), quickly amassed a sizable fan base in the D.C. region and started to gain recognition overseas.

Three of the group’s songs were on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1968 and 1969 for the Kapp Records label, with Johnson serving as lead singer. Initially, “Court of Love” rose to #25 but peaked at #3 on the U.S. Billboard R&B chart. “The Beginning of My End,” the follow-up single, peaked at #36 on the Hot 100 and #9 R&B. In 1969, two other releases made it to the R&B chart. The band’s first album was released in 1968.

When they joined, original members Marvin Brown and Tom Fauntleroy briefly replaced Michael Ward and Hal Worthington but left in 1970. In 1972, the group was dissolved. Johnson and Fauntleroy, Garrett Hall and Charlie Lockhart brought the band back in 2005. Marvin Brown replaced Garrett Hall on “Unifics Return,” their first album in over three decades.

Al Johnson, a band member who in the 1980s had a solo career and worked with many musicians, went away in 2013 at 65. Fauntleroy later went into a managerial position and retired. The ensemble welcomed new members, including tenor Ned Harris and baritone Bruce Justice. However, in 2023, Greg Cook, a member of the Unifics, died at 72 from pancreatic cancer.

How many children does Tom Fauntleroy has?

Tom Fauntleroy maintains his personal life and music business apart and keeps his love connections private. With all these, it is challenging to know whether he has children. Although his ex-wife has two children, Brittany Rose and Ravel, we don’t know precisely from which marriage she gave birth to them.

Bern Nadette Stanis: Everything About Tom Fauntleroy’s Ex-wife

Tom Fauntleroy’s ex-wife Bern Nadette Stanis, better known by her stage name Bern Nadette Stanis, is an American actor and writer born Bern Nadette Stanislaus on December 22, 1953. Thelma Evans, the only child of Florida and James Evans Sr., was played by Stanis in the CBS comedy Good Times, which had its first season run from 1974 to 1979. Situations 101: Relationships, The Good, The Bad & The Ugly; For Men Only; Situations 101: Finances; and The Last Night are the four works by Stanis.

Fauntleroy’s ex-wife Bern Nadette Stanis, one of five kids, was born and reared in Brooklyn’s Brownsville neighbourhood of New York City. The Grenadine Islands’ Carriacou is where her paternal grandparents were born. She went to Erasmus Hall High School before transferring to Juilliard. When she was a teenager, Stanis competed in Miss Black America pageants.

Stanis has had four marriages. From June 1974 until June 1978, she married her high school boyfriend, Thomas Fauntleroy. In January 1979, she wed Brooklyn nightclub owner Darnell Johnson. Terrence Redd, a mechanical engineer, was Stanis’ third husband. Their daughter Dior Ravel was born to Stanis sometime in April 1982.

Later, the couple got divorced. Kevin Fontana is her fourth spouse; according to a 2012 story, they have been together for 31 years, while other sources (see above) claim Stanis wed Redd in the 1980s. Brittany Rose, Stanis’ daughter, is his other kid. Stanis and her kids reside in Atlanta, Georgia.
