Who is Danielle Wiggans?

Danielle Wiggans, better known as Danielle Burkhead, is the stunning wife of well-known NFL star Rex Burkhead. She was born in Plano, Texas, on July 2, 1990, and is an American. She is currently employed as an Account Coordinator at Dunham Company.

Danielle is a magna cum laude Communications graduate with a minor in Human Resources. Which means she graduated with great honors. She received her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University in 2013. After graduating, she worked as a Human Resource Intern at East-West Ministries International and the Utility Fleet States.

Danielle Wiggans and her husband first met in high school and have been together ever since. In 2014, the pair tied the knot. Furthermore, the couple is presently enjoying their wedded life. Rex Burkhead was born on July 2, 1990. He is a free agent in the National Football League. He attended Nebraska and was drafted in the sixth round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. Burkhead played the following four seasons with the New England Patriots after four seasons with the Bengals, when he appeared in consecutive Super Bowls and won Super Bowl LIII. Burkhead became a member of the Texans in 2021.

Danielle Wiggans’s husband, Rex Burkhead, grew up in the Dallas-Fort Worth region of Texas after being born in Winchester, Kentucky. He attended Plano Senior High School in Plano, Texas, where he met his wife, Danielle Wiggans, and was a member of the Wildcats. Burkhead was a varsity player all four years of high school, and he even made the Division 5A basketball playoffs his senior year. 

He carried 1,762 yards and 28 touchdowns as a junior, helping his team reach the state semifinals in the Texas 5-A football playoffs. As a junior and senior, he was named first-team all-district, and as a freshman, he was a member of the Class 5A state championship basketball team.

Danielle Wiggans and Rex Burkhead have two children together, and two sons named Jett and Steel James Burkhead. Jett was born in 2018, which makes him 5 years old as of 2023. Danielle Wiggans was also found sharing the news of their second baby on Instagram, captioned as “Baby Burkhead #2! Coming at you May 4th! Jetty is getting a baby brother!”.

According to their social media handle, Rex and Danielle named their second baby Steel James Burkhead, and he was born on May 5, 2020.

Danielle Wiggans’ husband started his career in College football.

Danielle’s husband, Rex Burkhead, then played college football for the University of Nebraska from 2009 to 2012. He became a standout player, earning All-Big Ten Conference honors and setting several school records. Burkhead was known for his versatility and ability to contribute as a rusher, receiver, and special teams player.

The Cincinnati Bengals then selected him in the sixth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He played for the Bengals from 2013 to 2016, primarily serving as a backup running back and contributing on special teams. He also showed flashes of his potential during his time with the Bengals, displaying his versatility as a runner and receiver.

Subsequently, in 2017, Rex signed with the New England Patriots as a free agent. He became an integral part of the Patriots’ backfield, known for his versatility and ability to contribute to the running and passing game. Burkhead had a successful tenure with the Patriots, earning a Super Bowl championship in Super Bowl LIII (2019) and being a reliable weapon for the team’s offense.

After his time with the Patriots, Burkhead joined the Houston Texans in 2021. He provided depth and versatility to the Texans’ backfield, contributing as a runner and receiver when healthy.

Danielle’s husband was named the Uplifting Athletes Rare Disease Champion in 2012. He was recognized for treating a 6-year-old boy with a low-grade glioma, a rare pediatric brain tumor. Burkhead’s dedication to community service has been embodied by his bond with that youngster, cancer sufferer Jack Hoffman of Atkinson, Nebraska.

 In 2011, Jack called Nebraska and requested a photograph of Burkhead. Burkhead offered to meet Jack, and his involvement in their connection gained national attention when he arranged for Jack to dress in a Cornhusker outfit and “run for a touchdown” in front of a crowd of more than 60,000 during the 2013 Nebraska spring football game. 

President Barack Obama reacted by inviting Jack and his family to the White House, and the family invited Burkhead as well. Burkhead established the Team Jack Foundation in memory of Jack Hoffman.
